Financial Assistance

The upkeep, preservation and, where, necessary, the eventual restoration, of each house in Brock Avenue is the responsibility of the owner. It is assumed that the owners purchased their houses, at least in part, because of their aesthetic value, and because of the beauty of the street as a whole. For this reason, they are strongly motivated to preserve and improve their properties. Nevertheless, one of the purposes of designation is to provide formal recognition of the community's interest in the preservation of these buildings, as a district, because of their aesthetic value to the town as a whole. This recognition also acknowledges that the need for public assistance in this preservation and restoration may become necessary at some time in the future. Various sources of funds are available for such assistance, and they are normally provided in exchange for an easement.
